Lawrenceville holds the county seat for Gwinnett county and is a suburb of Atlanta about 30 miles north of downtown. The city’s population is estimated to be over 30k. Lawrenceville was incorprated in 1821, making it metro Atlanta’s second oldest city.
While there are many historic buildings in Lawrenceville, two most notable are the Gwinnett Historic Courthouse and the Lawrenceville Female Seminary. The Aurora Theatre in Lawrenceville attracts over 80k visitors every year and also hosts the Lawrenceville Ghost Tours. These tours are a 90 minute walking tour in the downtown area led by professional storytellers. These tour guides tell stories of town lore and legends. These include the kidnapping of Barbara Jane Mackie and the trial and shooting of Larry Flynt.
